About the spot

Anse de Sables, also known as Sandy Beach, is on the Atlantic coast near Vieux Fort in southern Saint Lucia. Kitesurfing here feels part of island life: a spacious bay, beach cafés and the Maria Islands on the horizon. It is not a pool of permanently flat water: strong wind brings chop, and conditions vary along the beach. The Reef Kite + Surf and Surf Shack at Coconut Bay operate in this southern area; confirm each school's launch location and rules separately.

What to pay attention to

Ask about wind direction, depth, safe-area boundaries and rescue arrangements. Assess chop and shorebreak before launching, even in a spacious bay.

Comment

“There is a large lagoon in the south. When I was there was almost no traffic - a lot of free water for riding.

Schools, lessons and rentals south

The Reef Kite + Surf

The school at Anse de Sables offers first-step learning and continuing classes. The program begins with the control of the kite on the shore, then proceeds to the bodydrag, restart and water start. According to the school, the equipment is included in the classes, during training, a rescue boat is available.

For self-rolling, you need to confidently return to the start site, walk against the wind, make a water start and restart. The instructor tests the skills; if self-rental is still early, the station offers training. This is useful to find out before the trip, especially after a long break.

Surf Shack at Coconut Bay

The second base in the southern district: lessons, equipment rental and service for guests with their own equipment. The center describes the calm water inside the reef and the wave farther from the shore. Don’t think of Sandy Beach as the same lagoon: just make sure you start. Access for those who live outside the hotel, rescue and service fee agreed in advance.

What is the water here and who is suitable for it?

The wide bay gives a sense of freedom: you can build long galleys, and not turn immediately after dispersal. However, The Reef’s sandy learning area and the areas near the outer reef are different things. Do not carry the description of one start to the entire coastline. For the first exits, a school is useful; confident riders should agree in advance on the launch site and assistance on the shore.

Wind and season

Surf Shack indicates northeast trade winds and the period from November to July. It’s a guide to planning, not the promise of daily riding. Look at the forecast for specific days, take into account the impulses and specify the appropriate size of the kite under your weight. The Reef website has weather-page.

St. Lucia: an island where you want to stay

Its beauty is a combination of sea and thick greenery. After a few days with kite, it is especially pleasant to change the horizon: instead of lines and white lambs, forest slopes, tropical gardens and sharp silhouettes of Pitons. Saint Lucia gives the holiday a second story, besides the wind.

On a day without kitesurfing, you can go to the Soufriere, take the Tet Paul Nature Trail for a view of the Pitons or choose Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens. Long forest routes are best planned on a separate day, with appropriate footwear and local accompaniment where required. Island parks and gardens.

If you choose between north and south, start with the rhythm of the trip: the south - live closer to the wide bay and kitesurfing; the north - combine the spot with the base near Rodney Bay. View the North Spot Cas en Bas.

How to plan the road

Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is located near Vieux Fora: for the southern base it is a convenient point of arrival. Arriving at George F. L. Charles (SLU) in the north needs a longer transfer. You can agree on the route with the school and choose accommodation relative to your start.

Before paying, check with the receiving team the place of study and the nearest comfortable accommodation. “Hotel by the sea” and “hotel by the kite zone” do not always mean the same thing.

Where is it?

The marker shows the area, not the exact launch point. Find the station address and permitted area at the school.

Questions before travel

How to choose the time of the trip?

November-July; dates to check with the forecast - a guide for planning. Before paying, confirm the season at the local school and check the forecast for travel dates.

What to ask the school before booking?

Where the lessons are held, what the size of the group is, whether the equipment is included, what language is taught and how the rescue on the water is organized.
