About the spot
Taiba is one of the iconic places of Brazilian kite freestyle. Here they go for lagoon kitesurfing: sandy shores, smooth water and riders who work one trick over and over again. Two large riding lagoons made this visit memorable. The sporting reputation is confirmed by the competition: in November 2022, the GKA Freestyle-Kite World Cup final was held at the Taiba Lagoon.
What to pay attention to
Ask the school which lagoon is currently suitable, how deep it is and where lessons take place. Leave clear landing space and stay out of teaching lines. Respect competition restrictions.
Best time to travel: September-December
For the Brazilian spot route, Dragon Kite recommends September–December, a time of sustained winds on the northeast coast. This is a good period to plan a trip around daily kitesurfing, from the ocean beaches of Ceara to the lagoons and estuaries of Piaui. Wind strength and water condition vary by day and spot, so the size of the kite, tides and forecast still check before leaving.

Lagoon school and large freestyle
Kiteclass conducts classes at Lagoa do Kite in Taib: the school describes a calm shallow water and sandy bottom. The team has instructors with ABK certification. Before arriving, agree on a specific point of study and conditions of kitesurfing.
Taiba entered the history of the world tour: on November 8-12, 2022, the final stage of GKA freestyle was held here. Watching strong riders from the shore is a separate part of the impression of this place.
How to plan the road
The route usually starts in Fortaleza; a pre-ordered transfer is convenient to Taiba.
Before paying, check with the receiving team the place of study and the nearest comfortable accommodation. “Hotel by the sea” and “hotel by the kite zone” do not always mean the same thing.
